BASE HINGED COLUMNS - ALUMINIUM & STAINLESS STEEL RANGE
In response to demand from our customers, the base hinged column is available in aluminium and stainless steel.
Aluminium
Weighing in at just 34kg for the 5m column, the aluminium base hinged column offers the same maintenance advantages as its steel cousin. It also offers the advantages of a high quality aluminium material, known for its life characteristics.
The aluminium column has a design life of 40 years, subject to maintenance in accordance with instructions.
In addition, the brushed finish gives an enhanced appearance with all the advantages offered by this material.
Stainless Steel
The stainless steel model is designed with a 70 year life, and offered in two grades of material.
The standard grade, 304, suits most uses, providing a robust and good looking product.
An alternative grade 316 is available, suitable for even the harshest marine environments.
Both models are operated by the same range of spring counterbalance units.
Spring Counterbalance Unit
The RLS spring counterbalance unit is available in a range of colour coded options, each one
suited to take particular weights and head loads. Select from the column matrix below the correct unit for your column height and weight.
The counterbalance unit ensures complete operator safety in lowering and raising the column. Compare with alternative rope/cable operated systems which do not offer similar safety
levels in use.
We strongly recommend that this counterbalance unit is only operated by persons who have successfully completed training carried out by an approved Abacus trainer.
Training
Training on all Base Hinged Columns is available either at Abacus or on site at your facility. Take a look at our Training page for more information.
