Europe set standards for 3 classes of play, class I, II and III. European standard EN 12193:2007 stipulates minimum illuminance levels of 500lux, 200lux and 75lux respectively.


The English FA also stipulate lighting standards from grass roots through to professional level. At higher competition levels, UEFA in Europe and FIFA worldwide set minimum levels for colour television lighting.


Minimum standards which apply to professional clubs playing in the Premier League, Championship & Leagues 1 or 2.
