Award winning school gets the ‘Abacus Touch’
Building on its strong reputation with local authorities & the education sector, Abacus completes the installation of Car Park & Amenity Lighting at Candleby Lane School
Nottinghamshire, England: January 2009
Abacus has recently completed the installation of car park and Amenity Lighting at the award winning Candleby Lane School in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.
The brand new school was recently named "Best Education Project" and "Best Sustainable Design" in the East Midlands Local Authority Building Control Awards 2008.
Commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council, Abacus is delighted to further build on its strong reputation with local authorities and within the education sector.
The design specification called for products that could be easily maintained and incorporated with architectural fittings to blend in with the contemporary design of the school and its landscape.
Abacus supplied a total of 27 raising and lowering columns which enable installation and maintenance to be carried out at ground level in complete safety. The columns were fitted with a mixture of Concept® Low Cone and Strada AL6211 lanterns.
Concept® Low Cones were chosen because of their low light pollution. At 0% ULOR, the flat glass luminaries are dark skies friendly and because of their Variable Beam Reflector, minimal lighting points are required, meaning minimal light pollution and obvious energy saving benefits. The Concept’s contemporary design comprises an aluminium canopy and trim finished in a durable polyester powder coating which comes in a range of stylish colour options.
Abacus’ range of Strada lanterns offers great versatility with a wide range of applications from roads to residential areas. Finished in a light grey, the Strada’s low profile bowl gives the option of 5 lamp sizes - from 70W up to 150W.
