Floodlighting at Harrow School
Abacus Lighting has recently been employed by Harrow School, through Trevor Gray (Estates Bursar) to carry out new floodlighting works to several sports areas, including a full size 3G football pitch, athletics track and tennis courts.
The sports complex utilised the new Challenger® 1 flat glass floodlight that has a double asymmetric reflector ensuring zero upward light. The product also ensures a tight control of overspill and minimal glare to onlookers. To ensure ease of maintenance, the tried and trusted HL250 base-hinged raising and lowering mast was specified to allow hassle free maintenance to take place at ground level. With multi-switching available pitches can be hired out in sections by providing half pitch floodlighting for 5 a side courts and a reduced lighting level for training.
James Brunt, Key Account Executive of Abacus Lighting commented "This is a prestigious project for Abacus, with the history of the school and the facilities, it gave us the perfect opportunity to provide the optimum lighting solution. This project also gave a unique opportunity of sharing several masts for dual purpose so that it provides lighting to both pitches".
