Abacus scores a hat-trick in Derby
Abacus Lighting Ltd has completed three sports floodlighting installations for new synthetic pitches at Derby Racecourse, Lees Brook School and Derby Moor School through McArdle Astroturf for Derby City Council.
The requirement was to provide floodlighting to meet the FA performance standard for artificial grass pitches for community use whilst ensuring all the environmental lighting issues were achieved.Using the Abacus Lighting Control System (ALCS) the flat glass Challenger® 1 floodlight was first choice ensuring zero upward light pollution, minimal overspill and greatly reduced glare.
To ensure ease of maintenance, the tried and trusted HL250 base-hinged mast was specified, which utilises a hydraulic counterbalance to safely lower the mast to ground level providing hassle free maintenance. At Derby Racecourse, Abacus also provided amenity lighting to the access pathways using the 5m base-hinged column with a stylish Trivium luminaire to provide safe lighting.
Darren Pearce and James Brunt for Abacus Lighting Ltd commented "We have been involved in these projects from the early stages, helping the facilities achieve planning permission and collating detailed information for documentation. These facilities will enhance the urban re-generation being undertaken by Derby City Council and part funding was generated by Barclays Local Spaces for Sport". James continued, "these projects are a great showpiece for Abacus as not only do they provide the latest technology in masts and floodlighting design but are also on the doorstep of our head office".
