LIGHT YOUR RUGBY CLUB

Standards for lighting a rugby field are governed by a range of national and international bodies, depending on the level of play planned for the club.

Training and two levels of competition matches are governed in Europe by both national football associations and a European standard EN 12193:2007, which stipulates a minimum lighting level for each class. EN 12193:2007 recommends minimum levels of 75 lux, 200 lux and 500 lux for Classes III, II and I. A middle level of 350 lux for club competition has also been adopted in some countries, for instance Ireland.

At a higher competition level, colour television demands dictate levels of between 1,000 and 1,200 lux.
