Rail

Way back in the 1970s, British Rail adopted the Abacus base-hinged column as standard across all its platforms, car parks and rail sidings. That legacy can still be seen in most Network Rail stations today.

The Abacus product range has continued to expand over the years since to include many new technologies to address modern day challenges including the York Hinge for raising and lowering retrofitting and GRP columns for passive safety.

Product Overview

Our Glass-fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) column range can be used in numerous ways, from use in public lighting systems, to telecommunications, to carrying low and medium voltage power lines. These columns suit a variety of sectors, providing a passively safe, non-conductive alternative to concrete and steel.
