Ingles FC is a Leicestershire-based football club founded in 1972. Competing in the Midland Football League, they are dedicated to developing local talent and promoting grassroots football.
Known for their focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, Ingles FC also runs youth development programs to support aspiring players. Beyond football, the club actively engages with local initiatives, strengthening its community ties.
With a proud history and commitment to growth, Ingles FC continues to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch.
Ingles FC was looking for a solution to improve visibility for both players and spectators, reduce energy consumption, and minimise light pollution.
The existing fixed high masts located at the pitchside required protective padding to be applied before each match in order to prevent injury to players during collisions.
Additionally, the placement of these masts obstructed the view of the game. Since the masts were fixed, heavy lifting equipment was necessary to access the pitch for maintenance or repairs. This process was time-consuming, and the equipment often caused damage to the pitch surface.
Ingles FC selected Abacus Lighting to deliver a high-performance illumination project for their ground. Abacus installed 12 Challenger 1 floodlights (CH1), equipped with overspill cowls to reduce light pollution and minimise the impact on surrounding areas. To enhance spectator views and improve safety, six 15-meter masts were placed around the perimeter of the pitch, positioned behind the fencing and replacing the previous masts that were located at the pitch side. Abacus Lighting managed the entire process, including design, supply, and installation, ensuring a seamless and professional service. The project was completed within a 3-4 week timeframe, meeting all agreed deadlines.
The Challenger 1 floodlights provided Ingles FC with reliable, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance lighting, enhancing the experience for both players and spectators on match days.
By replacing the existing fixed masts with Abacus’s (HL250) base hinge masts, the need for heavy machinery to access the pitch for maintenance and repairs was eliminated, saving the club the cost of hiring expensive equipment and the risk of damage to the pitch.
The new base hinge masts were installed behind the perimeter fence of the pitch, which saved the club time as protective covers are no longer required around the base of the masts on match days. This improvement has also enhanced the viewing experience by providing spectators with unobstructed views of the pitch during matches.
This successful project highlights Abacus Lighting’s expertise in delivering tailored solutions for sports facilities, ensuring optimal lighting performance for players, fans, and the wider community.
Energy Efficiency: The new LED lighting system reduces energy consumption by up to 50%, leading to substantial cost savings on electricity bills.
