Plater/Welder
The manufacturing team are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic fabricator/plater, who is looking for a permanent role in a busy manufacturing environment. The role will consist of, but not be limited to the following tasks;

· Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

· Welding & fabricating mild steel structures (high mast lighting products) to engineering drawings

· Marking out, tacking up and fully welding of structures, masts and shafts 3mm – 50mm

· Drilling, tapping and hand profiling holes and door access holes as required

· Fettling and cleaning of components with use of grinders

· Setting up of plant and machinery specific for the job in hand

· Use of crane to load and unload components from work area (crane/manual handling training to be provided in house)

· Cleaning all welds, removing excess spatter and slag

· Experienced in using a variety of tools common in welding & fabricating

· Experienced in understanding and following Safe Working Practices for welding equipment

· Maintaining a high standard of quality whilst working to deadlines set by Team Leader

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Fabricator/Welder qualifications required

· Successful candidate will have to go through weld tests in-house to get coded recognition

Preferred Skills

· Experience of manual handling

· Good communication skills

· Experienced in reading engineering drawings

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 (including performance bonus)

Overtime readily available at 1 ½ plus Saturday mornings.

As an Engineering Apprentice, you will be supporting the business to produce turnkey solutions that solve our customer challenges and requirements for large and prestigious projects across the World.

At college you will be learning skills to give you the appropriate knowledge to carry out tasks such as Basic Working Procedures and Techniques, Welding, Tooling, Methodology and more…

This position will be best suited to applicants with good practical skills and an interest in engineering-based projects.

TRAINING TO BE PROVIDED:

This programme will include:
– Engineering Basic Skills training – Day Release at local college
– NVQ Level 3 in Engineering- Day release at local college
– A Technical Certificate (possible HND or equivalent)
– In house training in line with your requirements.

ONCE TRAINED YOU WILL BE ABLE TO
– Interpret component drawings supplied as hard copy or computer-generated images.
– Use optimum process and correct tools for each stage of manufacture.
– Produce components in line with customer requirements.
– Checking the component dimensions using a range of measuring equipment to include digital micrometres, height gauges, Vernier’s, and in-process gauging.
– Conduct basic routine machine maintenance checks.

7AM – 4PM Monday to Thursday (30 minutes lunch break)

7AM – 1PM Friday (no lunch break)

= 40 hours per week

Electrical Design Engineer
Due to expansion, Abacus Lighting, a world leading provider of external lighting solutions are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.

QUALITIES & ABILITIES

To prepare electrical specifications, materials lists, wiring diagrams and data sheets to the regulations and standards appropriate to the site conditions, location and equipment.

Provide technical assistance in the preparation of procedures, quotations, tenders and installation work involving electrical equipment.

Ensure drawings of electrical installations and equipment are prepared and updated as necessary to the appropriate standards.

Assist in compilation in O & M manual.

Overseeing of projects through to commissioning – within budget and required timescales.

Liase with customers, visit sites to discuss and agree specifications and performance requirements. Visits to site may entail fault diagnosis, recommending and implementing corrective measures.

Design electrical control panels and boards for production in house at Abacus.

Produce written reports appropriate to site visits or equipment failures as required.

Maintain job files in such a manner that they give an accurate status of work.

Ensure that the requirements of the Quality management system are fully understood and complied with.

Create Bills of Material for electrical work.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS

BS 7671 18th Edition, IEE Regulations certified.

HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering

C&G 2391 – Inspection & Testing an advantage.

Full UK Driving License – required.

EXPERIENCE

Amtech – AutoCAD design

5 years in a similar role.

Experience in a team leader position

Experience working within a NICEIC compliant company.

SHIFTS AND HOURS OF WORK

Weekly hours are 37½.

7:30am-4:15pm Monday to Thursday

7:30am-12pm Friday

You must have the right to live and work in the UK.

The field sales team are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic person, who is looking for a permanent role in a busy sales environment.

Roles & Responsibilities
- To generate sales for a portfolio of accounts to achieve annual sales targets and achieve maximum profitability as agreed with the Sales Manager.
- Service existing customers and live projects to enable the business to close deals.
- Research new sales opportunities within the existing portfolio of accounts and identify new potential customers within the allocated sales area.
- Promote and develop new business potential covering the complete range of Abacus Products.
- Liaise with customers, colleagues, and works personnel on technical and commercial aspects as and when required.
- To maintain maximum profit levels in any commercial negotiations.
- To attend exhibitions as required and represent the Company in a professional manner.
We are looking for individuals who have:
- Field sales experience – 2 years minimum. Engineering desirable but not essential
- Experience with a customer base of Consultants, M&E Contractors, Architects and end users.
- Full & valid UK Driving License.
- Previous success in your field.
- Experience in managing sales accounts.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend Abacus Head Office in NG17 on occasions.

Electrician
Due to expansion, Abacus Lighting, a world leading provider of external lighting solutions are seeking a field based electrician. The role involves working on our customer sites such as leading sports stadiums, rail, ports, airports and retail carparks across the UK.

QUALITIES & ABILITIES

You must be an electrically biased engineer with experience of working in an installation and maintenance environment. Mechanical background an advantage also.

A proven history of installation, commissioning, fault finding, rectification and experience of maintenance techniques.

Inspection and testing experience.

Logical approach to breakdown analysis (fault finding / problem solving), pro-active maintenance and improvement work, who can demonstrate a sense of urgency whilst never compromising safety or quality of workmanship.

To be Self-motivated, responsible, able to work well as part of a team and on own initiative.

High standard of Health & Safety awareness, and the ability to read and follow RAMS strictly.

A good knowledge of practicing continuous improvement techniques (desirable) and a pro-activeness for improved ways of working offering possible solutions to problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS

Electrician with time served Electrical apprenticeship.

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical grade.

BS 7671 18th Edition (update to 18th edition may be sponsored) IEE Regulations certified.

C&G 2391 – Inspection & Testing an advantage.

IPAF qualified an advantage.

ECS Card, Gold or Black preferred.

Base weekly hours are 37½, (Average 45 hours per week with overtime)

Sales Administrator/Co-ordinator
Abacus are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic person, who is looking for a permanent role in a busy office environment to work as a member of our Internal Sales Team to provide day-to-day support serving our external sales teams and customer markets. Dealing with all forms of customer communication, making certain the voice of the customer is always heard. To support our external sales team whilst they are in the field, enabling them to liaise with our customers effectively.

Always working in a positive and professional manner to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations.

QUALITIES & ABILITIES

The role will consist of, but not limited to the following tasks;

Receiving, logging and processing customer enquiries.

Preparing customer quotations in a timely and professional manner.

Communicate with other departments, to gain lead time and price information to enable the customer quotation to be completed.

Entering customer orders on to SAP system, ensuring that they are reviewed and authorised in line with company policy, prior to verification. (Within given KPI timescales).

Liaise with internal departments (e.g. technical, financial, production), as appropriate, to check the order progress.

Pro-actively communicate with customers and sales teams on their order status’.

Recognise issues that need to be raised to senior management and report this in a timely manner to their line manager.

Other ad hoc activities to support the team and drive processes forward.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFACTAIONS

Proficient in using ICT equipment and software including CRM systems, Microsoft Office programmes including Word and Excel.

Must have the ability to work as part of the team and under own initiative as appropriate, within defined authority limits.

Ability to quickly understand the basics of engineered / bespoke products, their functions, and applications.

Ability to effectively communicate and work with colleagues and key contacts at all levels.

Lighting Design Engineer
Abacus Lighting Limited, one of the leading lighting solutions providers with a worldwide presence is looking for an experienced Lighting Designer to join our expert team. Primarily an exterior lighting solutions provider you will be designing sports grounds including major stadia, airports, ports, industrial areas and car parks.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To produce external lighting designs using the relevant specification and drawings, provide technical support on lighting and lighting products to customers and the sales force for quality, environmentally friendly and energy efficient designs
- Check all Customer specifications and highlight all salient information required for other departments.
- To complete lighting designs using AGI32 lighting software.
- To be aware of all appropriate industry standard lighting levels and requirements and to ensure applicable industry standard is applied to all designs activity.
- Up to date knowledge of the ILP GN01.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFACTIONS:
- AGI 32 / Dialux Software
- ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma or similar.
- Exterior Lighting applications – minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Degree level education preferred however not essential
OFFICE HOURS OF WORK:

Monday to Thursday – 7:30am – 4:15pm

Friday – 7:30am – 12pm = 37 ½ per week
