  • Case Study: Reading Rail Depot

Challenge

Reading Train Care Depot is a critical support hub which has kept train services in the South & London running for over 50 years. As part of a £36m rebuild, Abacus were tasked with designed and delivering a unique lighting solution.

With overhead gantries, ground height and the concerns of the Berkshire residents to consider, the light level became a prominent factor and required a thoughtful yet highly effective solution.

Solution

  • 670 x Quartz LED bollards

The Quartz bollard worked perfectly for the depot by achieving the National Rail specification for both average and minimum uniformity levels. At around 1 metre high, the bollards delivered light where it is needed, whilst being short enough to not interfere with the overhead gantries.

The low glare levels produced are of benefit to drivers and do not impact on the local residents.
