Challenge
Newark Sports Hub is a sports village providing state-of-the-art facilities; including a 3G football pitch, athletics track, cycle track, tennis courts and multi-use games area.
Planning for the new development began in 2017 and by 2018, building work commenced on the multi-million pound development. A sports floodlighting system was to be included in the development to facilitate busy evening schedules and events.
With residents living in close proximity to the complex, effective light control was a top priority in order to prevent overspill.

Abacus worked alongside the consultant to create an innovative LED solution with the AAA-LUX floodlights mounted on Abacus base-hinged masts. The lighting functions are controlled via an integrated wireless system. Using a touch screen, smart device or button boxes, staff are able to switch the lights on and off as well as dimming them when needed. Energy savings are made by only providing light when and where it is needed.
Abacus worked closely with both the consultant and planners to ensure any concerns surrounding light overspill were appeased.
