National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship week celebrates the positive impact apprenticeships brings to employers, individuals and the economy.

Here at Abacus we support the hiring of apprentices within the business, actively encouraging young apprentices to gain experience in their chosen field, and ultimately progress through the business whilst gaining valuable knowledge.

Apprenticeships have been an integral part of Abacus’ recruitment strategy for many decades, with 10% of our current staff starting out in the company as apprentices. Over the years, previous apprentice roles have included Lighting Designers, Welders, Mechanical Engineers and many more varied positions.

The training and development received sets the apprentices up for a successful career within the business, cultivating their skills from novice level through to expert members of our staff. In our current management team, both the Business Systems Manager and Production Manager started out as apprentices and have progressed through the business.

Currently, we have four apprentices in the business; Samuel, Alex, Charley and Reece have taken on roles within our factory and lighting shop. We can’t wait to see how they progress here at Abacus!
