Beverley Town Football Club became an official section of the Beverley Town Cricket and Recreation Club at Norwood Recreation Ground in 2000. Since this, they have won the league championship in 2013 with a further two titles before being promoted to the Northern Counties East League in 2022. With this success comes the need for pitch lighting to meet the grading criteria set out by the FA.
Football governing bodies guide clubs on the recommended pitch lighting to ensure it meets the necessary standards for safety and performance.
The lighting requirements become more stringent as the club continues to go from strength to strength. To empower the club to continue to comply with FA regulations, Beverley Town FC approached the Abacus Lighting design team for a solution to upgrade their artificial lighting.
The FA recommend a minimum of 200 lux for a main training pitch.
Our lighting solution involved the installation of our HL250 base hinged masts with Challenger 1 LED floodlights.
Our high mast systems offer the club a convenient and virtually maintenance-free solution. Any maintenance needed can be carried out at ground level with minimum disturbance.
The new floodlights achieve an average illuminance of 200 Lux with 0.6 uniformity, providing even lighting distribution across the pitch.
Along with FA football pitch lighting requirements, the club is using the pitch more frequently, therefore, seeking a cost-effective solution, particularly given the current energy crisis many clubs and homes are enduring. The new lights will provide the club with energy savings of around 30% per annum and will ensure lower maintenance costs.
The new LED lights reduce lighting pollution, improving fans’ experience by reducing glare from their seats.
The Challenger 1 LED range represents the cutting edge of LED floodlighting. With unrivalled performance and the most low profile design on the market, the Challenger 1 LED is perfect for a large number of applications across many industries.
