Case Study: Nottingham Outlaws

Nottingham Outlaws Rugby Club is a community-based rugby club located in Nottingham, England. The club was founded in 1998 and has since grown into one of the most successful rugby clubs in the Midlands region.

The Outlaws currently have teams ranging from U7s to senior level, catering to both men and women’s rugby. They compete in the Midlands leagues and have a proud record of success, having won multiple league titles and cups over the years.

The club already had an existing lighting system provided by Abacus, which was installed in 2004. However, the advantages of LED lighting over traditional lighting appealed to the club, and Abacus were on hand to achieve their desired solution.

Abacus supplied and installed our new Challenger 1 LED floodlights and performed a full re-head on the existing HL330 masts, with all existing infrastructure retained as part of the works. The new floodlights achieve a 200-lux average with 0.6 uniformity.

The new state-of-the-art floodlights are designed to provide a bright, even illumination across the entire playing field, enhancing the rugby experience for everyone involved.

The lighting system is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, using LED technology to minimize energy consumption and reduce the club’s carbon footprint. It is also designed to minimize light pollution, ensuring that the surrounding community is not affected by excessive glare or disturbance.
